Our recent trip to Chester Zooβs Lanterns & Lights event was a wonderful success and a truly magical evening for the children, young people, and families who joined us. Even though it was a bitterly cold evening π₯Ά, the chilly weather certainly didnβt spoil the funβif anything, it made the glowing lanterns and warm smiles shine even brighter β¨π.
The zoo was transformed into an illuminated winter wonderland π, and the sensory-friendly atmosphere made it an especially welcoming experience for our group. From the moment we entered, the children were captivated by the glowing animal lanterns ππ¦, colourful light installations π, and gentle soundscapes along the trail.
Families shared how special it was to enjoy an accessible event where their children could explore freely, engage at their own pace, and feel included in the festive excitement β€οΈ. There were plenty of highlights, including meeting illuminated puppets πΌ, walking through sparkling tunnels of light π, and taking in the enchanting projected displays π₯β¨.
For many, the most memorable part was seeing the childrenβs faces light up with joy as they encountered favourite animals recreated in dazzling lantern form π¦π‘βproof that not even the cold could dampen the magic of the evening βοΈπ.
We extend a warm thank-you to Chester Zoo for providing an inclusive, accessible environment that allowed every child to experience the wonder of Lanterns & Lights in their own way π.
It was an evening filled with smiles, excitement, and treasured moments ππ«βa perfect way to celebrate the season together. We look forward to many more enriching and inclusive outings with our Friends families in the year ahead π§‘.
