🎅 East Lancashire Railway Santa Train

Our most popular and much-loved Christmas trip is back!

🚂 Train departs promptly at 2:30pm
📍 Bury Bolton Street Station

We have reserved the whole train exclusively for Friends families.

The experience includes an approximately 80-minute heritage steam-train journey, Christmas characters, festive entertainment, a traditional brass band and a special visit from Santa, with a gift for everyone booked on a child gift ticket.

💷 Ticket Prices

• Adult – £26
• Carer – Free
• Grandparent/extended family – £26
• Adult + under three on knee and gift – £30
• Child/young person with own seat and gift – £10

A maximum of four grandparent/extended-family tickets can be purchased per Friends family.

Carer tickets must only be booked where the accompanying person is attending specifically to support someone because of their disability.

🎁 Choosing a Gift Ticket

Please select from:

• Under three with own seat and gift
• Gift age 3–5
• Gift age 6–9
• Gift age 10–13
• Gift age 14–17

These are gift age bands, not the child or young person’s actual age.

Please choose the category containing the type of gift they are most likely to enjoy. For example, if your child or young person is 18 but would prefer a gift intended for ages 3–5, please select Gift – Age 3–5.

👶 Under-Three Tickets

Adult + Under 3 on Knee & Gift – £30

This is one combined ticket containing:

• One seat for the adult
• An under-three travelling on the adult’s knee
• An under-three gift

Do not add another adult ticket when purchasing this option.

If an under-three requires their own seat and gift, select Under 3 Ticket with Seat & Gift – £10, together with the required adult or carer ticket.

If an under-three does not require a seat or gift, no ticket is needed for them. Please tell us in the checkout comments that they will be travelling.

♿ Wheelchair-Accessible Carriage

We have reserved the wheelchair-accessible carriage, but spaces are extremely limited.

If someone needs to remain in their wheelchair during the journey, please write “Wheelchair-accessible carriage required” in the checkout comments.

👨‍👩‍👧 Sitting With Another Family

If you would like to sit alongside another family, please write their name in the checkout comments.

Both families should name one another so we can match the requests. We will do our best to accommodate requests, but they cannot be guaranteed if submitted after booking.

🚌 Optional Return Transport

Return transport from St Helens can be booked separately for £10 per passenger.

Every passenger requires their own transport ticket and seat, regardless of age. Transport timings will be confirmed nearer the event.

Transport will only operate if enough places are booked. If it cannot go ahead, transport tickets will be refunded in full.

⚠️ Important Back-Order Information

Once the initial guaranteed allocation has been booked, the website will allow back orders.

If your tickets show as on back order, they are not guaranteed.

We will review the seating plan and try to fulfil as many back orders as possible. If we cannot accommodate your order, the affected tickets will be refunded in full.

Please do not assume that a back-order confirmation means your places are secured. We will contact you once your tickets have been confirmed.
